Henry L. Knauer

Henry L. Knauer, 86, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Mallard Bay Care Center to be with the Lord. He had been ill for the past several months. He was born in Bucktown on May 11, 1926 and was a son of the late John A. and Josephine Peters Knauer.

Mr. Knauer attended schools in Cambridge. In his earlier years he was a truck driver for Phillips Packing Company, but all of his life he was a farmer. His farm name was Little Buckneck. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing ball and hunting. Mr. Knauer was a member of White Haven United Church, Chateau Community Church and the Dorchester County Farm Bureau.

He left behind his special friends Gary Phillips and wife Linda, Calvin Molock, Bill Foxwell and Donald Townsend and wife Kaye of Church Creek.

He is survived by four brothers J. Vernon Knauer of Reistertown, twins Carlton E. and Carroll Knauer both of Bucktown and A. Freddie Knauer of Cambridge, an aunt Margaret Knauer of Cambridge, a special niece Joyce A. Willey of Cambridge, other nieces Christine K. Linardi of Ellicott City, Carol Price of Vienna and a nephew Carroll A. Knauer of Reistertown and several great nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Mr. Knauer is preceded in death by a brother Lawrence L. Knauer.

Pallbearers will be Wes Short, Bill Short, Toby Adams, Troy Townsend, Christopher Higgs and David Denny. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Phillips, Walter Denny, Calvin Molock, Bill Foxwell, Roger Adams and Donald Townsend.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 1p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley and Rev. Douglas S. Albert officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
