Herbert "Herbie" L. Gadow, 77, of Preston passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2014 at The Pines in Easton. He was born in Caroline County on June 27, 1936 and was a son of the late Ernest and Rose Plutschak Gadow.
Herbie graduated from Preston High School class of 1955. On July 28, 1962, he married the former Faye Bramble. He served in the U.S. Army. Herbie worked for Food Fair which later became Pantry Pride for numerous years. He also was a care taker and hunting guide at Hog Island Gun Club for over 30 years. Herbie enjoyed hunting, fishing and crabbing. He was a member of the Bethlehem Wesleyan Church in Preston, where he served on the board of both the church and the Maryland Food Bank.
He is survived by his wife Faye Bramble Gadow of Preston, three children, Mark Gadow and wife Claudia of Preston, Steve Gadow and wife Teresa of Hurlock, and Terri Sedgwick and husband Jamie of Preston, five grandchildren Hailee Gadow, Taylor Sedgwick, Jeffrey Gadow, Andrew Sedgwick and Christian Gadow and a brother Charles Gadow of Orlando, FL. Besides his parents, Mr. Gadow is preceded in death by a infant son.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church, 5330 Bethlehem Road, Preston, MD 21655. Family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to help defray funeral expenses.
