Herbert "Peewee" Franklin Thompson, Jr.

Herbert F. “Peewee” Thompson, Jr., 76, of Madison passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Chesapeake Woods Center. He was born in Laurel, MD on October 18, 1939 and was a son of the late Herbert F. Thompson, Sr. and Ellen Reeley Thompson.

He graduated from Laurel High School class of 1957. Peewee served in the U.S. Air Force and retired at the rank of Tech Sergeant. In 1972, he moved to Taylors Island, where he ran Taylors Island General Store until the late 70's. Peewee also crabbed and was a bar tender at Madison Bay for many years. On December 2, 1982, he married the former Barbara Brooks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching sports. Peewee was past member of the Cambridge Moose.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Thompson of Madison, a sister Brenda Spiegel of Morrisdale, PA, his pet dog Rex and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by a brother James Thompson and a sister Betty Miller.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 11 to 12 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, followed by a graveside service at 1 pm at Old Trinity Churchyard with Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
