Herman Atwood Henry, 95, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born in Cambridge on September 29, 1923 and was a son of the late Herman and Mossye Jones Henry.
Mr. Henry graduated from Cambridge High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he flew B-24 Bombers and the Korean War, where he flew in the Mosquito Squadron. Mr. Henry was a pilot for United Airlines, where he flew with Tom Jones, Baltimore Colts, New York Jets and many others professional football and baseball teams. He enjoyed tennis, scuba diving, and fishing. Mr. Henry was a member of American Legion Post 91 and the Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Henry, his children Carol Ann Henry, Jean Karen Henry, Mark Henry and Timothy Atwood Henry, four grandchildren and one great grandson. Besides his parents, Mr. Henry was preceded in death by a son David Henry, and a sister Ghemayne Henry.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 11 am at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
