Hilda Lee Marshall, 88 of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge. She was born in Cambridge on May 4, 1922, and was a daughter of the late Robert and Frances Spedden Casper.
She attended schools in Cambridge, and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1939. On January 18, 1941 she was married to Ellsworth M. Marshall. Mr. Marshall passed away on May 27, 1998. Mrs. Marshall was a member of Beckwith United Methodist Church where she had been active in the Bible Study and Strawberry Festival. Some years ago she had been a member of the Homemaker's Club and had served as State President. She had been active as a volunteer with the Salvation Army. Mrs. Marshall enjoyed going to lunch with a number of her classmates once a month since her graduation and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, quilting and canning. Mrs. Marshall had also participated in the Women of Faith for a number of years. She was a Charter Member of the Neck District Vol. Fire. Co. She had been in failing for the past year and had been a resident at the Chesapeake Woods Center since October of 2009 where she passed away. Survivors include a daughter Sara L. Peters and her husband Frankie Peters of Cambridge one granddaughter Patti Sue Glessner, and her husband Jack Glessner of Cambridge, one grandson Ryan C. Peters, and his fiancAC.e Kelli MacFarland of Cambridge, two great grandchildren Steffi B. Webster and Kinsley A. Peters and four step grandchildren Shelby Glessner, Sam Glessner, Jordan Glessner and Alex Glessner. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a sister Sara Warrington and two nephews Dickie Warrington and Billy Warrington.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Pam Bockart officiating. Interment will follow at Spedden Seward Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Frankie Peters, Ryan Peters, Jack Glessner, Steve Webster, Barney Peters and Jerry Boyle. Honorary bearers will be Pat Tolley, Barbara Wilson, Betty Smith, Eleanor Wheatley, Libby Perry and Shelly Willey.
