Ida M. Creighton, 95, of Fishing Creek passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Golden Hill on December 6, 1919 and was a daughter of the late Walter M. and Lillie Frazier Brittingham.
She attended schools in Golden Hill. On December 24, 1937 she married Capt. Samuel E. Creighton, who passed away on October 28, 1979. Mrs. Creighton was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by two daughters Rebecca Gurey of Salisbury and Brenda Wright and husband Stephen Willey of Fishing Creek, three grandchildren Sandra Lee Gurey of Salisbury, Melissa Masaracahia and husband Jon of Cambridge, Ashley Dolinger and husband Nick of Cambridge, four great grandchildren, a brother Jessie Brittingham of Linkwood and a sister Lillie Harman of East New Market and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Creighton is preceded in death by a granddaughter Donna Marie Gurey and eight brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Jackie McGlaughlin, Wayne Brittingham, Leroy Bell, Stephen Willey, Jon Masaracahia and Bill Condon.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
