J. Bruce Wright, 78, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at UMSMC at Easton. He was born in Eldorado on September 8, 1934 and was the son of the late Louise Wright.
He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1953. Bruce served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany in the Tank Corp. On January 1, 1976, he married the former Velma Mills, who passed away on June 5, 1986. He was a farmer his whole life and also he and his wife loved to collect antiques, when they weren't riding their motorcycles. Bruce enjoyed listening to Bluegrass Music. He was a past member of the American Legion Post #91 and Train Collectors Organization.
He is survived by a stepson Vernon Tortello and wife Sharon and their two children Stephen and Adam of Church Creek, a trusted friend and business partner Mary Mann of Trappe and her extended family that he claimed to be his own and many dear friends.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Newcomb, George Wroten, Vernon Tortello, Vince Gannon, Tyler Horner and Sean Mann.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Brookview Churchyard with Father Paul Jennings and Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
