Jack S. Willey, 79, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Chesapeake Woods Center. He was born in Vienna on December 4, 1931 and was a son of the late Frank and Mary Lawson Willey.
He attended school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. Jack worked at the Cambridge Wire Cloth Co. for 50 years starting as a welder and finally working as a draftsman. Jack was well known for restoring and operating antique Ford Mustangs and other antique automobiles. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge and also attended Baraca Class. Jack was an honorary member of Cambridge Rescue Fire Co. where he had worked on the Christmas Garden for a number of years and had custom made a number of operating scenes for the Christmas Garden. Some years ago Jack had also been quite active in the operation of the ambulances at Rescue Fire Co.
He is survived by a daughter Tami Parisi and her husband Joe of Glen Arm, MD, two grandchildren Casey Rose Parisi and Richard Jack "Little Jack" Parisi. He is also survived by two sisters Gladys Mills of Cambridge and Flossie Brohawn of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by three sisters Hazel James, Cora Jones, Winifred Peeling and three brothers Watson Willey, Jesse Willey and Linwood "Pete" Willey and a nephew Linwood E. Willey, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Joe Parisi, David L. Thomas, Sr., Mark Meekins, Ricky Cannon and Peck Dean.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Jay Hurley and Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
