Jacob A. “Jake” Johnson, 75, of Mardela passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Salisbury Rehab and Nursing Center in Salisbury. He was born in Cambridge on June 13, 1940 and was a son of the late Milford and Mary Condon Johnson.
He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1957. On August 25, 1961, he married the former Margaret Brinsfield. Jake was a lifetime farmer and at the same time he was employed with Delmarva Power for 26 years. Jake enjoyed fishing, hunting and restoring old tractors.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Johnson of Mardela, a daughter Patricia Corkran and husband Wayne and their two daughters Corinne Corkran and Alyssa Corkran all of Salisbury, two sons Jake "Arty" Johnson, Jr. of Laurel, DE, and David Allen Johnson and his son Taven and Trevet of West Virginia, three sisters Sarah Frase of Preston, Kathryn Barnes of Milford, DE and Margaret Ann McKenrick of East New Market and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jake is preceded in death by a sister Norma Eberspacher, three brothers William Frances Johnson, Robert Johnson and Thomas Benjamin Johnson.
Pallbearers will be members of the family and close friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
