Jacqueline Mae Kemp

January 3, 1941 — April 18, 2009

Jacqueline Mae Kemp, 68 of Easton, passed away at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore on Saturday April 18, 2009. She was born at Easton on January 3, 1941, and was a daughter of the late Jack and Evelyn Baynard Kemp.

She attended schools in St. Michaels. She worked at Wheaton Tubing in Easton and later worked at the Chesapeake Bowl, which later became the Easton Bowling Center for over 20 years. She had retired about five years ago. She enjoyed eating crabs, going to Harrington to play the slots and playing Bingo. Mrs. Kemp enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had been in failing health since 2005 and was taken to University Hospital on Friday where she passed away on Saturday morning.

Survivors include one daughter Tamara J. Kemp of Trappe and her fiancAC.e Vernel R. McFarland, Jr. of Trappe, one son Andy Garey and his wife Dianne Garey of Preston, her long time companion and fiancAC.e Nathaniel L. Turpin, Sr. of Easton, a brother David H. Kemp, Sr. and his wife Bonnie G. Kemp of St. Michaels, four grandchildren Jazmin I. Moran, Lil' Eddie Moran, Jennifer Garey and Stephanie Garey, five step grandchildren Vernel R. McFarland, III, Felicia McFarland, Immanuel McFarland, Nashawn McFarland and Jada McFarland. She is also survived, two nephews, Gregory P. Kemp and his wife Page Kemp, Michael N. Kemp and his wife Megan Kemp, Sr., many aunts and many great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew David H. Kemp, Jr.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 100 Peach Blossom Lane in Easton, with the Rev. Gary Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in St. Michaels. Pallbearers will be Vernel McFarland, Jr., Vernel McFarland III, Gregory Kemp, Michael Kemp, Jimmy Baynard and Kemp Baynard. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
