James S. Bryan, Sr., 68, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at UMSMC at Dorchester. He was born in Cambridge on June 29, 1945 and was a son of the late Sheldon Bryan and Mary Burton Slacum.
Mr. Bryan attended schools in Cambridge. He was employed with the Dorchester County Roads Board for thirty years. Mr. Bryan enjoyed going to car shows and driving his 1955 Chevy two door. He was also known for eating live hard crabs. He was a member of the Cambridge Jaycees.
He is survived by three children Jacqueline K. Bryan and companion Mike Nordstrom of East New Market, Jayne K. Stachewicz and husband Craig of Leesville, LA and James S. Bryan, Jr. and wife Lori of Edgewood, MD, six grandchildren Megan Smit, Brandon Bryan, Justin Bryan, Cherish Brooks, Chelcie LeCompte and Colton Stachewicz, his longtime companion Brenda Johnson of Linkwood, a sister Bonnie Eglseder of Trappe, a brother Talmadge Slacum of Brownsville, Texas and a niece Julie Slacum of Houston, TX.
Pallbearers will be Matt LeCompte, Brandon Bryan, Justin Bryan, Mike Nordstrom, Ray Hastings and Bryan Harvey.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Jack Diehl officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Linkwood Salem Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 88, Linkwood, MD 21835.
