James L. "Jamie" Burton, Jr.

James L. “Jamie” Burton, Jr., 66, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his home. He was born on February 20, 1949 and was a son of the late James L. Burton, Sr. and Geneva Rose Burton.
Jamie graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1966. He retired from the Board of Education. He enjoyed going to the horse races.
He is survived by two daughters Valerie Hughes and husband Mike of Ocean Pines and Jamie Culver and husband Ward of Dagsboro, DE, two granddaughters Cadence Hughes and Carly Culver, two sisters Cindy Cheesman and husband Donald of East New Market and Tina Smith and husband Chad of Cambridge, a brother Jay Burton of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jamie is preceded in death by two sisters Gail Adams and Karen Greene.
Pallbearers will be Will Greene, Dustin Edger, Mike Greene, Allan Barnes, Jack Rossy, Allan Simmons and Kenny Mason. Honorary pallbearer will be Jay Burton.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park with Pastor Dave Stewart officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
