James H. "Jimmy" Simmons

Jimmy H. Simmons, 74, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on November 19, 1949 and was a son of the late John C. and Gertrude Bradley Simmons.

He attended schools in South Dorchester. On November 11, 1969 he married the former Shirley Rippons. Mr. Simmons was a Master Carpenter and was a fisherman. He enjoyed working on old cars. 

He is survived by his wife Shirley Simmons, three children Stacey Todd and husband Phil Todd, Steven Simmons and wife Edyta, and Bradley Simmons and wife Pam, five granddaughters Ashley Blake and husband Jeremiah, Courtney Alexander and husband James, Alexis Todd, Lillie Simmons, Ella Jo Simmons, six great grandchildren Gabby Blake, Sophie Blake, Summer Alexander, Bella Todd, Malayah Greene and Noah Todd, three brothers and six sisters John Simmons, Russell Simmons, Sandy Simmons, Barbara Willey, Marie Ruark, Margaret Robinson, Carol Crue, Lisa Blann, and Eddie Simmons. 

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 11am at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
