James Donald Hill, Sr

J. Donald Hill, Sr., 75, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born in Cambridge on January 9, 1936 and was a son of the late John Willie Hill and Mildred Cannon Hill.

He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1954. He served in the Army National Guard from 1955 to 1961. On April 23, 1965 he married the former Margaret Mills. Mr. Hill was a long distance truck driver for Wheatley Trucking, Todd Transport and Crown Cork and Seal until he retired in 1998. He was an avid bowler in his younger days, loved playing pool and playing cards every Friday night with his buddies in Hudson. He also loved his grandchildren. He was a member of the Association of Maryland Bow Hunters and a member of Cambridge Lodge #1272, B.P.O.E. Elks.

He is survived by his wife Margaret A. Hill of Cambridge, a son J. D. Hill, Jr. of Cambridge and a daughter Donna Abbott and husband James of Crapo, 3 grandchildren Jenna Ashley Abbott of Avon Lake, OH, Amanda Hillary Abbott of Salisbury and Jordan Danielle Hill of Cambridge, a sister Janet James and husband Goldsborough, Jr. of Cambridge and a good friend Allen Keene.

Pallbearers will be David Satterfield, Clark Elzey, Radcliffe Wheatley, Donnie Simmons, Wayne McCarter and Randy White.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. David J. Wooten, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Spedden Seward Cemetery.
