James E. "Jamie" Insley

August 22, 1929 — June 10, 2011

James E. "Jamie" Insley, 81, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on August 22, 1929 and was a son of the late Goley and Irene Willey Insley.

Mr. Insley graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1947. On July 20, 1951, he married the former Doris Newton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. Mr. Insley worked at Wire Cloth for many years and retired in 1994. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 91.

He is survived by his wife Doris Insley of Cambridge, a daughter Charlotte Mays and husband Ron of Hurlock, a son Chuck Insley and wife Toni of Cambridge, 5 grandchildren Jaime Gray, Chris Mays, Eddie Insley, Jake Insley and Jackie Insley, 2 great grandchildren Angel Gray and Natalia Andrews. Besides his parents, Mr. Insley is preceded in death by a son Jim Insley and a sister Sis Wroten.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Insley, Charlotte Mays, Ron Mays, Mickey Lomax, Jody LeCompte and Kenny Powell.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Hurley officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:00. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Scott Daniels, 205 Maryland Ave. Cambridge, MD 21613 or to Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733.
