James G. "Jimmy" Ruark, 66, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Cambridge on October 16, 1942 and was a son of the late Gordy C. and Alice James Ruark.

Mr. Ruark graduated from Cambridge High School. He was the class of 1960. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a master electrician and previously worked for John Tieder and through Local Union IBEW#24 had worked on projects at Camden Yards and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. He also was a waterman. On October 21, 1964 he married the former Donna Keyes. She passed away on November 24, 1987. Some of his hobbies were fishing and was an avid sports fan. Mr. Ruark was a trustee of the Spedden Seward Cemetery. He was a member of Spedden United Methodist Church, where he was serving as Sunday School Superintendent. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 91 and Local Union IBEW #24.

He is survived by a daughter Sherri Lynn Thomas of Cambridge, a son Christopher J. Ruark of Preston, three grandchildren Hope Thomas, Scott Thomas and Amy Ruark and several aunts and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Spedden United Methodist Church with Rev. Pam Bockart officiating. Burial will follow at Spedden Seward Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge.
