Janet L. James, 69, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was born on March 22, 1942 in Cambridge and was a daughter of the late John and Mildred Cannon Hill.
She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1960. On July 5, 1979 she married Goldsborough James, Jr. Mrs. James was a school bus driver for Dorchester County for 30 years. She enjoyed travel, collecting antiques and beautiful needle work. She also enjoyed making quilts and was a great cook. Mrs. James was a member of Spedden United Methodist Church and the Dorchester County Farm Bureau.
She survived by her husband Goldsborough James, Jr. of Cambridge, three nephews J. Donald Hill, Jr., Eric Sharmek, Eddie Sharmek, two nieces Carrie Paige Robinson and Donna Abbott and many great nieces and nephews that she was very fond of. Besides her parents, Mrs. James is preceded in death by a brother J. Donald Hills, Sr.
Pallbearers will be J.D. Hill, Jr., Ray Aaron, David Lewis, Steve McCollister, Toby Adams and Clark Elzey. Honorary pallbearers Tommy Pleasants, Sonny Jackson, Rodger Adams, Billy Flemming, Billy Beckwith, Lynn Spicer and Keith Howard.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Pam Bockart officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Spedden United Methodist Church, c/o Carolyn Wright, 507 Gay Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
