Janie C. (Cheesman) Adkins

Janie C. Adkins, 77, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. She was born on April 29, 1944 in Cambridge and was a daughter of the late Russell E. and Hazel Mills Cheesman.

She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1962. On November 21, 1964, she married John C. Adkins, Sr. Mrs. Adkins worked 54 years at Dorchester General Hospital as a LPN. She enjoyed traveling especially to Las Vegas, collecting Cabbage Patch dolls and other dolls. She was a member of Madison United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband John Adkins of Cambridge, three children John Adkins, Jr. (Carol) of Easton, Tammy Robinson of Cambridge, and Thomas Adkins (Erin) of Haverhill, MA, three grandchildren Gavin, Brody and Chase Adkins, a brother Thomas Cheesman (Barbara) of Hollywood, MD, and a niece Vicki Flowers (Mark). Besides her parents, Mrs. Adkins is preceded in death by a son in law William E. Robinson, Jr.

Pallbearers will be John Adkins, Jr., Thomas Adkins, Gavin Adkins, Brody Adkins, Chase Adkins, Barry Adkins and Scott Simmons.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11 am at Dorchester Memorial Park with Pastor George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
