Jean (Mueller) Haddaway

April 5, 1927 — September 21, 2017

Norma Jean Haddaway, 90, of East New Market, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at her home. She was born in St. Jacob, Illinois on April 5, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Emil Mueller, Sr. and Clara Hersemann Mueller.

She graduated from Lebanon High School class of 1945. Mrs. Haddaway met her future husband, George Haddaway at Scott Air Force Base where she worked and on September 25, 1947, they were married. Mr. Haddaway passed away on December 10, 2000. She worked with her husband at Haddaway Shell where she was the bookkeeper. Mrs. Haddaway was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, where she was the first woman president of the congregation, sang in the choir, the Woman Guild, church secretary, and a longtime Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Roelma Chapter 113 O.E.S.

She is survived by two daughters Sandra H. Dodson and husband Wallace of Cambridge, Susan H. Creighton and husband James of Cambridge, five grandchildren Scott Dodson and wife Amy, John Dodson and wife Becky, Josh Dodson and wife Kelly, Sarah Bass and husband Mike and Jake Creighton, eight great grandchildren Parker, Spencer, Jack, Ava, Aubrey, Owen, and Ella Dodson, and Carter Bass, a sister Garnell Kyler, sister in law Genevieve and husband Vernon Morris and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers Delbert Mueller and Emil Mueller, Jr.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 1 pm at Immanuel United Church of Christ with Pastor Dale Krotee officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ, c/o Financial Secretary, 5401 White Hall Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
