Jeffrey S. Travers, 40, of Fishing Creek passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at his home. He was born in Easton on June 30, 1969 and was a son of Yvonne Mills Travers and the late Riley W. Travers, Jr.
Jeff graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School in the class of 1985. On December 21, 1989 he married the former Jeanne Nelle. At the time of his passing he was working for the State Highway in Easton. He enjoyed working on the water and hunting.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Travers of Fishing Creek, three daughters Stefany Travers of Fishing Creek, Elizabeth Secrist and husband Kevin of East New Market and Lesli Hurley and her fiancAC.e Scott Wilson of Wingate,
four grandchildren Colin Secrist, Kendell Secrist, Clay and Hailie Wilson, his mother Yvonne Travers of Fishing Creek, a brother Richard Travers, Sr. and his wife Barbara of Fishing Creek, two nephews Richard Travers and wife Rikkie of Cambridge and Bobby Travers of Fishing Creek and a uncle Francis Davis of Secretary. Besides his father, Jeff is preceded in death by a brother Riley W. Travers III.
Pallbearers will be James Dean, Wyatt Dawson, Kevin Secrist, Scott Wilson, Marcus Palmer, Scott Cole, Bobby Travers and George Norsolk. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Moran, Dean Webb, Jeff Mentges, Justin Smith, Robert Smith and Larry Bordley.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Charles C. Hudson III officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
