Jennie Lee Lewis

Jennie Lee Wheatley Lewis, wife of the late William K. Lewis, Jr. died at Dorchester General Hospital on December 3, 2014.

She was 83, having been born June 4, 1931, the daughter of the late Wilson K. and Alma P. Wheatley. Jennie was born in Dorchester County and attended public schools in Cambridge. She married Mr. Bill on February 23, 1946. Jennie was employed by Dorchester General Hospital until she retired. She was also in the past, an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Linkwood-Salem Volunteer Fire Department. Jennie resided in Linkwood until the time of her death. She was taken to Dorchester General Hospital on Tuesday, December 2nd and passed on Wednesday morning December 3, 2014.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by five daughters JoAnn Miller (Tim) of Sharptown, Kendra McClain (Dale) of Ragged Point, Ginger Rae Dickinson (Giggs a�" late) of Linkwood, Cindy Walls (Bob) of East New Market, Wendy Gutermuth (Bob - late) of Cambridge, six sons William "Stump" Lewis (Cindy) of Mooresville, NC, Jabez Lewis (Sheila) of North Wilkesboro, NC, Randy Lewis of Linkwood, Mark Lewis (Carla) of East New Market, John Lewis of East New Market, Matt Lewis (Jessica) of East New Market, grandchildren Angelia Wells, Amy Martin, Jennifer Stofer, Joseph Nixon, Zackary Nixon, Thomas Miller, Blaire Adams, Blaine Williamson, Brian Lewis, Stephanie Merritt, Ed Collins, Adam Lewis, Eric Lewis, Jessica Eskridge, Brad Dickinson, Beth Hill, Jason Walls, Christopher Walls, Chase Walls, Beth Ann Abbott, Katie Gutermuth, Craig Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Landon Lewis, Blake Lewis, Karli Lewis, Jennah Lewis, Gabrielle Lewis, Moriah Lewis, Lydia Grace Lewis, Asher Lewis and 30 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Three of Jennie's grandsons are away serving in the United States Armed Forces Zachary Nixon (United States Army), Craig Lewis (United States Marines) and Blake Lewis (United States Air Force).

Preceded in death are two brothers Wilson K. Wheatley, Jr. and Cleveland J. Wheatley, six grandchildren William Clark Lewis, Bridget Renee Williamson, Edward Gutermuth, Olivia Morgan Lewis, Hope Lane Lewis and Brent Kendall Williamson.

Pallbearers will be Jason Walls, Chris Walls, Chase Walls, Brad Dickinson, Brian Lewis, Eric Lewis, Blaine Williamson, Thomas Miller, Tyler Lewis and Adam Lewis.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
