Jesse Ryan Marshall, 36, of East New Market passed away at UMSMC at Dorchester on Saturday, June 24, 2017. He was born in Charlotte, NC on November 7, 1980 to Harold Onie Marshall and Darlene Bromwell Marshall.
Jesse was always a free spirit. He had the unique ability to find a way to blend in wherever he lived, be it Cambridge, MD, Mill Valley, CA, Myrtle Beach or Charlotte, NC. As a young boy, he loved to play little league, and he carried his team in Cambridge to the All Star Championship as the pitcher. He would always be so excited to play; he would have everything laid out to play when his dad got home every day. Jesse loved his time in the Cub Scouts as a child where he gained a love for camping. He and his father won the Pinewood Derby through the Cub Scouts, which is a memory Jesse always cherished.
He graduated from Cambridge South-Dorchester High School in 1998. He then attended Chesapeake Community College in Cambridge, followed by Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury. He worked at Service Master in Queenstown, where he enjoyed the ability to travel with his work. Jesse then went on to work at Paul Reed Smith Guitars in Stevensville. When his family moved back to North Carolina, he was employed by Ludwig drums. Jesse also had the opportunity to create and co-own South Port Gift Shop in Waxhaw, NC with his mom.
As Jesse grew, his passions evolved. He was an avid reader and loved to travel and to wander, but his biggest passion in life was his music. He was an accomplished singer/songwriter, having had the opportunity to record his music with Tikitown studios in Marion County, CA, where he sat on the same stool as Frank Sinatra, and he used Mick Jagger’s guitar to record, with Producer Scott Matthews doing back up for him. It was an experience that forever changed his life. Jesse also had the experience of playing at venues in Waxhaw and Charlotte, NC, as well as San Fransisco, CA. He found God through his music and in the mountains of South West Virginia, Tennessee, and Mill Valley, CA. Jesse loved his family and was helping to raise his nieces Shiloh Marshall and Aubrey Marsh, whom he loved with every fiber of his being. He was going to teach Shiloh how to skate board this summer, which she was looking forward to very much.
Jesse is survived by his parents, Harold O. and Darlene B. Marshall of East New Market, brother Joshua C. Marshall (Nicole), and their children Charlotte, Matthew, and Cameron “Drake,” of Ludington, Michigan, Aaron J. “Jake” Marshall (Jenny), and their children Asia, Aryn, and Anna, of Gate City, VA, a sister Malinda “Mindy” Marshall and her daughters Shiloh Marshall and Aubrey Marsh, uncles Reginald W.
