Jessie Parks Shipley

Jessie Parks "Peggy" Shipley, 92, of Hebron passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012 at her home. She was born on March 1, 1920 in Hoopers Island and was the daughter of the late Jesse and Evelyn Adams Parks.

She graduated from Hoopers Island High School class of 1937. Mrs. Shipley graduated as an LPN from Springfield State Hospital in 1941. She married Harold Shipley on June 16, 1946 who passed away on November 18, 1985. She worked at Springfield State Hospital, Eastern Shore State Hospital and Dorchester General Hospital. After her retirement, she did volunteer work at Wicomico County Health Department for many years.

Mrs. Shipley is survived by her daughter Betsy Shipley of Hebron. She is also survived by Terri Mills (Gary), Sylvia Cheesman, Scott Cheesman (Regina), Katie Cheesman, Jonathon Mills, Kaitlyn Mills and several cousins. She was preceded in death by Michael Cheesman.

Pallbearers will be Scott Cheesman, Robert Bennett, Jonathon Mills, Chem Albites, Lynn Adams and Stanley Simmons.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 12:30 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Tom Bunting officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock. Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Riverside Wesleyan Church, 1114 Keys Rd., Fishing Creek, MD 21634.
