JoAnn Trice Hutton, 55, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Cambridge on May 9, 1960 and was a daughter of Sylvia Hall Trice and the late Dawson Trice.
JoAnn graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School class of 1978. She worked as a legal secretary for most of her career. She enjoyed camping, taking care of her family and friends. She had a great love for Grace Church and founded the mission program at Grace United Methodist Church and devoted her life to serving people in need. She also served on the church finance committee, co-chairperson of the Thanksgiving Committee, Grace Church WINGS Committee, Membership Committee, Church Council Secretary and had attended Emmaus #38. JoAnn also instituted the Backpack Program for several of the local elementary schools and spearheaded Grace Church’s participation in support of the local homeless shelter and saw that the church provided a meal to the homeless every Sunday. She loved those less fortunate and tried to meet their every need. JoAnn served on the Board of Directors on the Hilda Harwood Foundation and was the first paper girl for the Daily Banner and could tell you her entire route and who lived where.
She is survived by her husband Les Hutton of Cambridge, a daughter Nikki Watkinson and son in law Tyler of Greenbackville, VA, a stepson David Hutton and wife Amanda of Pittsville, her mother Sylvia Trice of Cambridge, four siblings; Dawson Trice Jr. and wife Susan of Denton, Rev. Steve Trice and wife Brenda of Cambridge, Bobby Trice of Boynton Beach, FL, Karen Johnston and husband Bob of Vienna, numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.
Pallbearers will be Rick Travers, Jr., Sebastian Trice, Steve Trice, Corey Trice, Josh Trice, Eric Trice, Tyler Watkinson and Gene Skinner. Honorary pallbearers will be Carson Windsor, Bruce Jones, Rick Travers, Sr., Calvin Travers, Larry Jones, Randy Travers, Marty Pratt and Mike Willey.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 1p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge with Rev. Christina Blake officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace United Methodist Church Mission Fund, 501 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
