Joel M. "Scott" Dolinger

Joel M. "Scott" Dolinger, 51, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Baltimore on July 26, 1961 and was a son of Jo Ann Purcell Di Bitonto and Paul Scotty Dolinger.

He graduated from Perry Hall Senior High School class of 1979 and attended Broadcasting Institute of Maryland and graduated in 1980. On February 25, 1983, he married the former Gerrie Wolchik. Joel Scott was an employee of MTS Broadcasting working with WCEM in Cambridge and later at Q105 in Salisbury, where he leaves a team of dedicated employees and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, boating, fishing, grilling and working around the home. Joel battled lung cancer for over two years, ultimately succumbing to a heart attack the night of his death. He was a very easy going, friendly and loving man who would always put others before himself. Anyone who was blessed to know him, loved him and he would always see the positive in every situation. His only request was to let everyone know that the reason he passed was from smoking cigarettes and if one person quit from his death, that it would be worth it.

He is survived by his wife Gerrie, son Nicholas, future daughter in law Ashley, his mother Jo Ann, father Scotty, sister Ellen, brother Jeffery, step father Tony, two nieces and a nephew. He is also survived by his four dogs Kasey, Kellie, Kipper and Kyle.

A special thanks to Dr. David Smith, Dr. John Mastrandrea, Dr. Mary Ann Moore and all friends and family who supported Joel through his fight. He is in the Lords arms and comfort now, looking down on all of us.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Refuge of Sinners with Father William Lawler officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
