John McGhee Cowin, 16, of Trappe, MD went home to be with our Lord on January 30, 2012. He passed away in the arms of his parents while under the gentle care of the doctors and nurses at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Born on September 5, 1995, John spent the majority of his life in his beloved State of Louisiana and had recently relocated with his family to Trappe, MD. John lived an incredibly full life filled with laughter, food and Barney. Among his many talents was a God-given ability to make people smile and laugh. Surviving are John's parents, Robert N. and Laura A. Cowin, and his loyal companions, Mac and Lucy, of Trappe, MD, maternal grandparents Thomas H. and Wayne P. Adams of Cambridge MD, uncles Steven A. Adams of Cambridge, MD and David H. Cowin of Danbury, CT, aunts Charlene H. Adams of Cambridge, MD and Stephanie J. Landau of Ridgefield, CT, and cousins Kathryn M. Adams of Cambridge, MD, Jessica H. Cowin of Atlanta, GA and David H. Cowin of New York City, NY. John was preceded in death by his brother William P. Cowin of Covington, LA and paternal grandparents, David M. and Peggy H. Cowin of Manhasset, NY and Covington, LA. In addition to his relatives, John was blessed with many wonderful friends, teachers and therapists that enriched his quality of life. His long-time caregiver, Beckie M. Adams of Mandeville, LA, ensured that John's life was filled with fun, food and many cherished memories. A memorial service will be held at Old Trinity Church in Church Creek, MD on February 11, 2012 at 2:30 pm. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
