John M. "Jack" Creighton

March 23, 1924 — February 1, 2012

John M. "Jack" Creighton, 87, of Church Creek passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Hoopers Island on March 23, 1924 and was a son of the late Earl and Margie McGlaughlin Creighton.

Mr. Creighton attended schools in Dorchester County. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Creighton worked in sales at Cambridge Wire Cloth and Maryland Wire Belts. He loved to fish. Mr. Creighton was a lifetime member of the Church Creek Vol. Fire Company.

He is survived by his wife Louise Creighton of Church Creek, sisters in law Norma Lee Richardson of Cambridge and Beverly Creighton of Church Creek, a nephew Roy Riggins and wife Patricia of Delmar, DE and his daughter Holli Anderson of Taylors Island and several cousins. Besides his parents, Mr. Creighton is preceded in death by a brother Earl Creighton and a brother in law Donald Richardson.

Pallbearers will be Adam Kelly, Robert Brooks, Roy Robinson, Larry Dail, Jay Newcomb and Arthur Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome Shenton, Edgar Ruark, Reginald Lewis, Quinn Robinson and Bill Moosegian.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 1p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Church Creek Vol. Fire Company, P.O. Box 16, Church Creek, MD 21622 or to the Taylors Island United Methodist Church, c/o Paula Kelly, P.O. Box 28, Taylors Island, MD 21669.
