John E. Hollingsworth

John E. Hollingsworth, 79, of East New Market passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Harrisburg, PA on June 5, 1932 and was a son of the late George and Arad Lerch Hollingsworth.

He graduated from Greensboro High School. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. On December 23, 1978 he married the former Dolores Legutko Kear. He was working for Miles Branch Farm at the time of his passing. He enjoyed going to the Warwick Cafe socializing with his friends.

He is survived by his wife Dolores C. Hollingsworth of East New Market, two sons John Hollingsworth of Denver and Robert G. Kear, Jr. of Hurlock, two daughters Christine Maggio of Cambridge and Linda Kear of Easton, 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, two brothers Charles "Shortwheel" Hollingsworth of Denton and Jay Hollingsworth of Ridgley, a sister Janet Smith of Greensboro and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Hollingsworth is preceded in death by a daughter Deborah M. Palmer, a brother Buck Hollingsworth and a granddaughter Tara Leigh Kear.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. J. Edward King officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cambridge VA Clinic, c/o the Veterans Fund, 830 Chesapeake Drive, Cambridge, MD 21613.
