John Hubbard, Sr. 75, of Secretary passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Envoy of Denton. He was born in Cambridge on September 11, 1935 and was a son of the late Norman E. and Louella Phillips Hubbard, Sr.

Mr. Hubbard attended schools in Cambridge. He served in the Army National Guard in the 29th Division, 115th Infantry and he also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal. On February 1, 1957 he married the former Lillian Luvell Lane. She passed away on August 18, 2010. Mr. Hubbard worked for and retired from the City of Cambridge as a maintenance supervisor. Mr. Hubbard was an avid outdoorsman. He was a Boy Scout Master for Troops 777 and 294 both in Cambridge, Troop 754 in East New Market and a member of the American Legion Post 91 for 35 years.

He is survived by a son John Hubbard, Jr. and wife Donna of Hurlock, a daughter Deborah Stephens and husband Virgil of Laurel, DE, three granddaughters Jennifer Frey of Ocean City, Jamie and Ashley Stephens both of Laurel, DE, a sister Mary Lou Hayward of Cambridge, a brother Daniel Hubbard of East New Market and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Hubbard is preceded in death by a daughter Teresa I. Paul, four brothers Norman Hubbard, Jr., William Hubbard, Robert Hubbard, Sr., James Hubbard, Sr. and a sister Sandy Patterson.

Pallbearers will be Jay McKelvey, Robert Stroterhoff, Ronnie McCollister, Terry McCollister, Jody Abbott and Barney Fairall. Honorary pallbearer will be Sam Shelly.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Dave Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Boy Scout Troop 754, c/o Danny Foster, 3006 Old Route 50, Cambridge, MD 21613.
