John M. Hurley, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 while at Coastal Hospice at the Lake.
John was born in Cambridge, MD, on July 2, 1957. He was the son of the late Kenneth C. Hurley and the late Lillian B. Hurley.
He attended Cambridge High School and later enlisted in the Army National Guard. Through the years, John worked in various jobs and one he greatly enjoyed was with Brooks Barrel Company. His most recent and favorite work had been with Mary Losty and Keith Davidson performing property maintenance.
He was an avid Ravens fan and also enjoyed NASCAR. John had several hobbies; refinishing furniture, fishing, reading and keeping abreast of the news.
John is survived by a son and daughter in law, John M. Hurley, Jr. (Ashley) and two granddaughters, Emily and Rebecca, all of Morganton, NC. He is also survived by a sister and her husband, Linda M. Hales and Granville H. Hales, III, niece Molly Spina (Brian) and nephew David Hales (Chela) and great nephews and great niece.
John is also survived by an uncle, Reese Hurley and numerous cousins. Counted among John’s survivors were faithful friends; Keith Davidson, Mary Losty and Anne Roane.
In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by grandparents Mary and Russell North, Edith Adams and Merritt Brohawn.
A celebration of John’s life will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 1:00. It will be held at his sister’s home at 5212 River Road, Hurlock, MD 21643. All are invited and welcome. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
