John Wesley Truitt, Sr.

John W. Truitt, Sr., 65, of Mardela Springs passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury.  He was born on May 23, 1955 in Baltimore to the late Charles Lewis Truitt and Janice Naomi Hurley Truitt.

John graduated from Northern High School.  He worked for many years with Horsey Farms as a truck dispatcher.  On May 6, 1994, John married the former Patricia Bender.  He loved being on his boat, especially going down to Cherry Hill, and loved crabbing.  John also had a love for classic cars and tractors.  He restored an old Ford tractor that was his pride, and took it to many shows.  He had a big sweet tooth, and especially loved Milk Duds and Twizzlers.  John loved to laugh, and he loved to make people laugh.  He also enjoyed reading, mainly about American History.  Above all else, John loved his family.  His grandkids were his life, and he was their special Pops.  They will remember him each and every time they sit down with a bowl of popcorn to watch the Wizard of Oz.

John is survived by his wife, Patricia Truitt, of Mardela Springs; children Charles Lewis Truitt III, Amber Owens and wife Sara of Frederick, Courtney Blackmire and husband Zach Ruark of Sharptown, Anna Truitt of Mardela Springs, Jared Blackmire of New Jersey, Torey Truitt of Arizona, and John Wesley Truitt, Jr. and wife Angela of Mardela Springs; grandchildren Christopher Truitt of Salisbury, Casady Ruark of Sharptown, Skylar Truitt of Fruitland, Chloey Ruark of Sharptown, Kallista Truitt, Marllei Truitt, and Tiley Truitt, all of Mardela Springs; a great grandson Jeremy Ennis of Salisbury; and brothers Charles Lewis Truitt II of Mardela and Byron Truitt of Salisbury.  Besides his parents, John is preceded in death by a brother William C. Truitt.

Serving as pallbearers will be John’s sons.

A walk through visitation will be held at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 11 AM to 12 PM.  Interment will be private at Mardela Springs Cemetery.  Due to the current pandemic, social distancing and face masks will be required at all times.
