Mr. McGinnis graduated from Washington College and University of Maryland College Park, earning degrees in economics and business. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam completing two tours and receiving two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged at the rank of Lieutenant. He enjoyed fishing, loved scuba diving in the Caribbean, and he was most content reading a good book beside a warm fire or on a deck, porch, or beach. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and especially his wife of 56 years, Mary June. They enjoyed traveling together, particularly to America’s National Parks with Glacier Park being his favorite. Mr. McGinnis was also a beloved servant in the local community, lending his expertise to many regional non-profit boards and organizations who all greatly valued his financial prowess.
In addition to his wife Mary June McGinnis of Cambridge, he is survived by his son Sean McGinnis and wife Amber of Cambridge, daughter Meghan Cleary and husband Thomas of Cambridge, two grandchildren Quinn and Daniel McGinnis, sister Joy Takacs and husband Fred of Pennsylvania and brother Ed McGinnis and wife Sheila of Canada and several nieces and nephews.
