John W. Webb, Sr

John W. Webb, Sr., 68 of Wingate passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on January 27, 1941 and was a son of the late Harvey O. and Ella Bell Webb.

Mr. Webb attended school in Dorchester County. On April 30, 1965 he married the former Caroline Parks. He worked for Charlie Smith at Yacht Maintenance for 23 years. He retired on September 11, 2001. He enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife Caroline Webb of Wingate, a daughter Carmel Hopkins and husband Lenny of East New Market, a son John W. Webb, Jr. and wife Teresa of Cambridge, 2 grandchildren Brandi Vickers of East New Market and Robert J. Webb of Cambridge, a great grandchild MaKenna Blizzard, 4 step grandchildren Lacy Hopkins and Bradley Hopkins both of Preston, David Foxwell, Jr. and Crystal Cannon both of Cambridge, two sisters Kaye Harrington of Secretary and Doris Aaron of Cambridge and two brothers Rodney Webb of East New Market and Billy Webb of Cambridge and several nieces, nephews and a special fishing buddy John Orange of Pasadena. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Oliver Webb.

Pallbearers will be Lenny Hopkins, Dickie Dawson, Scott Foxwell, John Orange, William Windsor and Rodney Long.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 12 noon at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Joseph Harmon officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
