John Charles Willey, Sr., 55, of Cambridge passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on May 8, 1958 to the late Charles E. Willey and Nancy L. Lutz.
John graduated from South Dorchester High School class of 1976. He joined the U.S. Navy right after graduation and served in the Philippines. Mr. Willey enjoyed wood working, photography, nature watching at Blackwater Refuge but most of all he loved to spend time with his family. He was a member of the Friends of Blackwater Refuge and the American Legion Post 91.
Mr. Willey is survived by his wife Cindy Outen of Cambridge, a son John Charles Willey, Jr. and his wife Victoria of Cambridge, two daughters Brandy Chambers and her husband Buck of Alabama and Heather Collison and her husband Christopher Nash of Cambridge, four grandchildren Hannah Chambers, Arabella Collison, Nathan Willey, Hadley Nash, three brothers Tommy Willey and his wife Sharron of Taylors Island, Frankie Willey of Taylors Island, Eddie Bramble and his wife Ruth of Woolford, and a sister Theresa Collins.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.
