Joseph Byrd Willey, Jr., 67, of Easton passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at his home with his wife by his side. He was born in Cambridge on September 27, 1947 to the late Joseph Byrd and Ruth Brannock Willey.
Byrd graduated from Cambridge High School, class of 1966. In October of 1966, he was drafted by the United States Army and stationed in Germany. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Alma Fitzhugh on December 22, 1967. Mr. Willey was an electrician working for Delmarva Power for 30 years and at Fluharty Electric. After retirement, he opened Willey Home Works in Easton. Byrd enjoyed working, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Alma Willey of Easton, a son Joe Willey and wife Kristen of Princess Anne, a daughter Jennifer Fulton and husband Jason of Bridgeville, DE, six grandchildren Aaron Fulton, Will Fulton, Jack Willey, Gabriel Willey, Nate Willey and Liam Willey, a brother John Willey and wife Kathryn of Hurlock, a sister Anna Quenniville of Oklahoma City, OK, two nephews Michael and Bryan Willey, a great nephew Noah Willey, an aunt Ruth Evans of Ocean Pines, two uncles Levi Willey, Sr. of Fruitland and Guy Willey, Sr. of Cambridge and many cousins.
Pallbearers will be Joe Willey, Michael Willey, Bryan Willey, Jim Dayton, Randy Brannock and Jason Fulton.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at the Easton Church of God with Pastor Keith Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Talbot Hospice Foundation, Inc., 586 Cynwood Dr, Easton, MD 21601 or to the Easton Church of God, 1009 N. Washington St, Easton, MD 21601. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
