Joyce P. Mowery, 76, of Fishing Creek passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at her home. She was born in Cambridge on July 4, 1940 and was a daughter of the late Eva Hurley Travers and Buster Hurley.
Mrs. Mowery attended schools in Cambridge. On October 9, 1954, she married Stanley Lewis, who passed away on July 11, 1994. In December of 1995, she married Joseph Michael Mowery, Jr. who passed away on August 31, 2012. She worked as a crab picker and later at CSI. Mrs. Mowery enjoyed reading, crocheting, yard sales, flea markets and painting.
She is survived by a son Don Lewis and wife Peggy of Fishing Creek, a daughter Sandi Bellusci of New Windsor, MD, four grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and two brothers Sonny Travers and Paul Hurley and wife Pam of Fredericksburg, VA, two sisters Patty Howick and husband Terry of Phoenix, AZ and Pam Humber and husband John of Knoxsville, TN, a sister in law Faye Hoffman and husband Allen and their family and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Mowery is preceded in death by two sons Stephen Mark Lewis and Stanley Bruce Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Eric Lewis, Joe Hayden, Joel Hayden, Joey Hayden, Dusty Flowers and Donnie Willey.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Chuck Hudson officiating. Interment will at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803.
