Judy Turner, 82, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was born in Pocomoke on January 8, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Ralph R. and Edna Atkinson Harris.

Judy graduated from Cambridge High School. On September 21, 1946 she married F. Ellwood Turner. She worked at the Dorchester County Detention Center in the Cafeteria as a supervisor and retired in 1989. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, working with the flower fair and teaching Bible Study.

She is survived by her husband F. Ellwood Turner of Cambridge, a son Jimmy Turner and wife Dawn of Secretary, two grandsons Pvt. First Class Blake Turner who is serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. and Cody Turner of Secretary, a brother Donald L. Harris and wife Peggy of Charlotte, NC and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Judy is preceded in death by a brother Charles Harris.

Pallbearers will be Phil McKelvey, Paul Hurley, Steve Hurley, Jimmy Turner, Cody Turner, Randall Bradshaw and Rutledge Turner.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cambridge with Rev. Fred Bahr and Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, c/o Richard Hargis, 205 Maryland Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
