Julia N. Mills

Julia Norris Foxwell Mills, 91, of Lakesville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, December 19, 2012 at Mallard Bay Care Center where she had been a patient for almost five years. She was born in Lakesville, December 18, 1921, the daughter of the late Thomas Houston Foxwell and Jennie Vee Stevens.

She graduated from Crapo High School in June 1939. On March 27, 1942 she was married to Omar "Jim" Mills of Toddville who passed away December 24, 2011. They were very active members of Streets Methodist Church of Lakesville before it closed. Their membership was then transferred to Crapo Ebenezer Church which they attended faithfully as health allowed. In the 1960's she began nursing school, graduating with honors from the Cambridge Maryland Hospital School of Nursing as a LPN.

She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Cathy and Anthony Hayden, Sr. of Lakesville; grandson and granddaughter in law, Anthony Hayden, Jr. and Kelly Hayden of Hebron; great grandson Joey Hayden and great granddaughter, Toni Victoria Hayden of Hebron; brother James Foxwell; brother and sister in law Leonard and Janice Foxwell of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 69 years and her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Joseph Hayden; sister in law and brother in law Pauline and David Robbins; brother and sister in law Thomas and Evelyn Foxwell; sister in law Betty Foxwell and nephews James Foxwell, Jr. and Thomas Foxwell III.

Pallbearers will be Randy Bradford, Anthony Hayden, Jr., Keith Morris, Robert Insley, Carl Hughes and Len Foxwell, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leonard Foxwell, Sr. William Foxwell, Roger Morris, Russell Stevens, Vernon Morris, Jr., Rev. Chris Pennington and James Whitfield.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church c/o Betty Hughes, 2533 Toddville Rd., Toddville, MD 21672.
