Julia Marie (Ward) Hooper

d. October 6, 2015

Julia "Marie" Hooper passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on October 6, 2015 in Murfreesboro, TN.  She was 84.

Marie was the daughter of the late Harold and Minnie Tull Ward.  She was a native of Crisfield, MD but lived most of her life in Cambridge, MD, where she was a member of St. Paul's Church.

In June, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Lawson "Tommy" Hooper Jr.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Marie Hooper Cox (Skip) of Easton, MD, grandsons John Andrew Hooper and Robert James Hooper of Murfreesboro, TN, brothers Norris, Harold, Donald and Linwood Ward and sisters Vivian Neal, Connie Gunby, Leone Carmine and Narcissa Callaway.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Lawson "Tom" Hooper III (Robbie Lee McDowell), and daughter, Sandra Lynn "Sandy" Hooper, both of Murfreesboro TN.  She is also survived by grandsons Thomas "Ross" Hooper (Stephanie Feingold) of Jersey City, NJ, Matthew Ward Hooper of Boca Raton, FL and Michael Lee Hooper (Caroline Low) of Murfreesboro, TN and brother- and sister-in-law Fred and Gail Hooper.

In healthier times, Marie could frequently be spotted feeding the seagulls at Great Marsh or exercising at Curves.  Marie and Tommy rarely missed Friday night dinner out or Saturday night cards with their best friends.  Marie was an avid coin collector and shopper and doted on her beloved dog, Kasey, as well as her "grand dogs".  Above all else, her family meant the world to her.

The family would like to thank the staff of Adams Place and Senior Helpers for their care of Marie.

Funeral services will be held October 13 at 12:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, MD, followed by interment at 2:00 p.m. at the MD Veterans' Cemetery in Hurlock, MD. The family will receive guests for one hour immediately prior to the services beginning at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
