Julian Herbert Nave of Trappe, passed away at Talbot Hospice on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the day after his ninety-third birthday. He was born to Isaac Moore and Leona Warden Nave in West Chester, Pennsylvania on March 12, 1931. As a young boy, the family moved to Ross Neck in Dorchester County. He attended Hudson School and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1948. Later, he attended the University of Maryland.
Mr. Nave moved with his family to a farm on Jamaica Point Road near Trappe, where he had been a farm owner and operator for most of his career. He was a field test engineer for New Holland Machine Company where he tested farm equipment throughout the country. He transferred grain for Perdue for many years. He also worked for Union Trust Bank in Easton and Cambridge.
Julian enjoyed auction sales, flea markets and collecting clocks. He also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii three times and to Alaska. Having Sunday dinner with his family was always a special part of this week.
Mr. Nave is survived by his wife, Dr. Dorothy Beckwith Nave, and two children Patricia Tindall (Phil) and Dr. Jay Nave (Diane). He had six grandchildren: John Tindall (Christa), Stephen Tindall (Lauren), Dr. Jared Nave (Grace), Joel Nave, Kara Opel (Derek) and Katelyn Evans (Ryan). He also had ten great-grandchildren: John, Collin, Ava and Lydia Tindall and Caitlin, Evan, Noah, Carson, Ezra and Zachariah Nave. He is also survived by a sister Sara Blizzard and a sister-in-law Faye Nave, and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Jackson Nave, and a sister, Cora Sue Cheves, predeceased him.
Pallbearers will be John Tindall, Stephen Tindall, Dr. Jared Nave, Joel Nave, L.J. Tindall and Collin Tindall.
A funeral will be held on March 21, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home P.A. on Locust Street in Cambridge. The interment will take place at the Old White Marsh Cemetery near Trappe. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Trappe United Methodist Church or Trappe Volunteer Fire Company.
