Julie attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1963. On April 28, 2001 she was married to Howard "Butch" Simmons. She had worked at Airpax for a number of years and later worked at K&L Microwave for ten years until her health forced her to retire. Julie was a member of Dorchester Post 91 American Legion Auxiliary and Cambridge Lodge No. 1211 Women of the Moose. For many years she had enjoyed doing arts and crafts, baking and doing latch hook. Julie had been in failing health for several years, and was stricken at her home on Friday afternoon and was taken to DGH where she passed away.
Survivors include her husband Howard "Butch Simmons" of East New Market, two daughters Denise A. Lauck and her husband Dale Lauck of East New Market, Donna D. Abbott of Cambridge, one step son Richard L. Simmons of Federalsburg, a daughter in law Robin Simmons of American Corner, five grandchildren Jerry Hughes, Courtney Lauck, Justin Lauck, Eric Simmons and Amy Simmons and one great grandson Will Simmons, one sister Susie Biskach of Hebron, a sister in law Shirley Dail of Cambridge, her best friend Diane Ess of East New Market and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother S. James Dail, Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Lloyd G. Massey, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at the East New Market Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Simmons, Jr., Richard Simmons, Eric Simmons, Jerry Hughes, Dale Lauck and Jimmy Spedden.
