Justin P. Prahl, 36, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on May 27, 1987 and was a son of Kathleen McNamara Bautista and the late Charles G. Prahl, Jr.
Justin graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School class of 2005. He also graduated from Full Sail University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Film and later earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. On June 1, 2019, he married the former Lacie Yacko. Justin was an RN at Dorchester General Hospital and at Eastern Shore Hospital Center. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, playing video games, scuba diving, traveling, and photography.
Justin had a sharp wit, his laughter was contagious, and he often had a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Justin valued authenticity in himself and in others. He looked out for his friends and family with love and compassion. He had a thirst for knowledge, he was naturally curious about the world, and listened to a variety of podcasts. He enjoyed eating his way through San Francisco, and proposed amidst the red woods on a memorable trip with his wife. On a trip to Ireland with Lacie, he enjoyed immersing himself in the history of that country, and learning about his genealogy. He was direct, matter-of-fact, and didn’t care much for small talk.
He is survived by his wife Lacie Prahl, a daughter Freya, his mother Kathleen Bautista and husband Efigenio, siblings Charles Geoffery Prahl III and wife Emily, Faviana Bautista and husband Daniel, and Alexis Bautista and wife Mae, with niece Alessandra and nephew Aldrin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 12pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Family will receive friends from 11 to 12. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, we instead wish to honor Justin’s memory by setting up a fund to support his daughter, Freya, whom he called “buddy,” in her education.
Words fail to express the profound grief and loss we feel in your absence. Your legacy, Freya, will be forever etched in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
