Katherine S. Dail

Katherine S. Dail, 88, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born in Hudson on July 12, 1923 and was a daughter of the late Wm. Russell and Anita North Seward.

Mrs. Dail was born and raised on the family farm Edgewater in Hudson. She graduated from Cambridge High School. On January 9, 1943 she married Rogers E. Dail. He passed away on May 15, 2007. She worked at Cambridge Wire Cloth for 13 years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, was an avid Baltimore Oriole Fan, watching Figure Skating and spending time with her family. She was a past member of the Neck District Volunteer Fire Company and Beckwith United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter Karen D. Brittingham of Cambridge, a son Larry E. Dail and wife Martha of Cambridge, three grandchildren Teresa B. Smith, Matthew Dail and Caitlin Dail and two great grandchildren Megan and Lauren Smith. Besides her parents, Mrs. Dail is preceded in death by a brother Charles Leroy Seward.

Pallbearers will be David Marshall, Jr., Timothy Marshall, Justin Buckingham, Wayne Smith, Jr., Matthew Dail and Keith Neal. Honorary pallbearer will be David Marshall, Sr. and Jira McGlaughlin.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Burial will follow at Spedden Seward Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or to the Neck District Volunteer Fire Company, 945 Cooks Point Rd., Cambridge, MD 21613.
