Katherine P. Dickerson

Katherine P. Dickerson, 82 of Cambridge, passed away at the Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge on Thursday, February 18, 2010. She was born in Philadelphia on March 22, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Wilhelmina Reynolds.

She attended schools in Philadelphia and later attended Nursing School at the Eastern Shore State Hospital where she received her LPN. She had worked as an LPN in the Tawes Building at the Eastern Shore Hospital for over 25 years until she retired. Mrs. Dickerson had continued working as an LPN after she had retired. She enjoyed playing Bingo, and had gone on several cruises. She had been a resident at the Mallard Bay Care Center for the past year where she passed away on Thursday morning.

Survivors include a daughter Pamela Burgan of Louisville, KY, a son John W. Dickerson and his wife Dana Dickerson of Cambridge, four grandchildren David Burgan, Jason E. Dickerson, Carol Dickerson and Brittney Dickerson, four great grandchildren Jazlyn Sapulos, John Burgan, Jacob Burgan and Gavin Sapulos. She was preceded in death by two sons James E. Dickerson, Jr. and Steven Michael Dickerson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dorchester Co. Humane Society, P.O. Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613.
