Katherine M. Ross

Katherine M. Ross, 91 of Cambridge, passed away on Friday November 28, 2008 at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge. She was born at Woolford on May 4, 1917, and was a daughter of the late Roy B. and Beulah Brooks Mills.

She attended schools at Woolford. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1934. On June 3, 1941 she was married to Olney P. Ross, Jr. Mrs. Ross was a member of the Cambridge Wesleyan Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher for 25 years, Missionary Director for 15 years, American Bible Society and the Bible a Month Club from 1980 until 2007, and had also been involved in the Wesleyan Church Vacation Bible School. She and her husband enjoyed traveling together. Mrs. Ross had been a resident at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge since March of 2008 where she passed away on Friday afternoon.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Olney P. Ross, Jr. of Cambridge, one daughter Kathy Elzey and her husband Keith Elzey of Cambridge, one son Fred Ross and his wife Anne Ross of Parsonsburg, four grandchildren Bryan Hall, Brandon Hall, Heather Towers and Zebulon Ross, one great grand son Dominic Guy-Hall, one great grand daughter Destiny Ross. She is also survived by a sister Virginia Vincent of Denton and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Benjamin Mills, Jr., and a sister Margaret Tyler.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Cambridge Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Joseph Harmon and the Rev. Paul Dieter officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cambridge Wesleyan Mission, c/o the Cambridge Wesleyan Church. Pallbearers will be Bryan Hall, Brandon Hall, Zebulon Ross, Mike Rossy, Ricky Collison, Planner Windsor and Raymond Aaron. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
