Kathleen H. “Kitty” Willey, 92, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Talbot Hospice House in Easton. She was born during a snow storm along the Transquaking River on March 10, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Julian and Katie Kuebler Handley.
She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949. On October 8, 1950, she married Edgar A. Willey, Sr. who passed away on December 16, 2007. Mrs. Willey worked at Leggett’s Department Store and C&P Telephone Company and later at Dorchester General Hospital for over 30 years and with Easton Memorial Hospital for 5 years where she was a certified Cardiovascular Technologist. She also worked for Dr. James Thompson in Easton. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Cambridge where she previously served on the board of directors. Mrs. Willey enjoyed quilting, gardening, sewing, jigsaw puzzles and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her dog Barney.
She is survived by a daughter Linda W. Elzey and husband Craig of Cordova, two sons Edgar “Allen” Willey, Jr. and wife Linda of Vienna and Stephen M. Willey and wife Carol of Cambridge, three grandsons Christopher Willey and wife Jennifer, Eric Willey and wife Christine and Bryan Elzey, a great grandson Cole Willey, a great granddaughter Evelyn Rose Willey, a niece whom was like a daughter Libby Handley Nagel and several other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dog Barney. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Willey is preceded in death by a two brothers Henry Handley and Jesse Handley and a sister Peggy Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Chris Willey, Cole Willey, Eric Willey, Bryan Elzey, Tony Jackson and Chelo Hernandez.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 10:15 at Church of the Nazarene, 97 Sandy Hill Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 wit Rev. Richard Prahl officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9:15 to 10:15 at the church.
