Kaye Frances (Shannahan) Barnes

Kaye F. Barnes, 81, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Cambridge on September 16, 1937 and was a daughter of the late Hammond Shannahan and Jeanette Mills Shannahan.

She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1955. On September 7, 1957 she married Franklin L. Barnes who passed away on May 8, 2000. Mrs. Barnes was an LPN, and was employed by the Eastern Shore State Hospital and several doctor offices in Cambridge. She attended Bay Country Bible Church when her health permitted.

She is survived by a son Franklin L. Barnes, Jr. and wife Kathy of Cambridge, two grandchildren David F. Barnes and Kevin E. Barnes and wife Lauren Evans Barnes , two great grandchildren Ariah H. Matos and David F. Barnes, Jr., two sisters Shirley Long of Delaware and Diane Palamaras and husband Archie of Cambridge, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a close friend Brenda Cephas and caregivers Geneva Adams and Dawn Diaz. Besides her parents, Mrs. Barnes is preceded in death by an infant son James Reid Barnes, two sisters in law Peggy Shenton and Mary Jane Barnes and a brother in law Clark Long.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11 am at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Rev. David Wooten, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
