L. Louise Fleming, 85 of Cambridge, passed away at the Dorchester General Hospital on Thursday September 16, 2010. She was born in Cambridge on November 24, 1924, and was a daughter of the late Edward and Nettie Travers Elliott.
She had attended schools in Cambridge. On November 17, 1944 she was married to G. Ridgeway Fleming, Jr. Mr. Fleming passed away on October 17, 1991. Some years ago she had worked at Woolworth's in Cambridge. After she was married she was primarily a homemaker. Mrs. Fleming had also raised chickens and sold eggs to several local stores and restaurants, and had also operated Indianbone Antiques on Route 50 for about 10 years. Mrs. Fleming loved animals, enjoyed working with antiques, taking care of her yard and working with her fish pond. She had been in failing health for the past year when she passed away at DGH on Thursday morning.
Survivors include a daughter Sharon F. James and her husband William W. James of Cambridge, one granddaughter Kim James of Cambridge, one grandson William W. James, Jr. of Cambridge and great granddaughter Rebecca Williamson also of Cambridge, several nieces and nephews and one special niece Dottie Travers. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 28 brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Monday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Pallbearers will be Thomas Paulette, William Paulette, Wayne Paulette, Mark Marshall, Carlton Nabb, Leonard Elliott and Gene Travers.
