Laurie Beth Merrick

Laurie Beth Merrick, 35, of Cambridge went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2017. She was born in Cambridge on September 7, 1982 and was the daughter of Steven G. and Julie Merrick.

Laurie graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School class of 2000. She also graduated from Delmarva Beauty Academy and was employed by Hair Cuttery of Salisbury. Laurie enjoyed swimming, writing, drawing, tie-dying, shopping, talking on the phone, and spending time with family.

Laurie was a very compassionate, friendly, and bubbly person. She cherished her children and took pride in their success. Her social personality allowed her to become a friend to all. She put her whole heart into caring and giving to others. She gave her organs so that others may live. We will always remember her big smile and beautiful blue eyes. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Laurie is survived by her parents Steven G. and Julie Merrick, companion Adam Tortello and their two children Logan Steven and Avery Beth Tortello, sisters Lutisia M. Blessing (Billy),Heather Meekins,and Lauren Bramble, brothers Douglas Burton (Sonya), and Anthony (TJ) Meekins, nieces Aubree, Ashlee, and Mackenzee Burton, and Lanna Bea Blessing, nephews Anthony Meekins III, and Wyatt Blessing, grandmothers Peggy Merrick and Carolyn Robinson and numerous aunts, uncles and close friends. She is also survived by Mitzi Richardson. Laurie is preceded in death by her grandfathers George “Gibby” Merrick and C. Frederick Robinson.

Pallbearers will be TJ Meekins, Doug Burton, Craig Harper, Billy Blessing, Dave Treiber, and Fred Robinson Jr.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1 pm. It will be held at Open Bible Church and Academy, 1619 Race St. Cambridge, MD with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Family will receive visitors beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Open Bible Church and Academy, 1619 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 or First Baptist Church, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
