LaVal C. "Dick" Boyce

LaVal C. “Dick” Boyce, 83, of Bridgeville formerly of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at his home. He was born in Wilmington, DE on September 21, 1941.

Mr. Boyce graduated from Conrad High School in Wilmington, DE and he also had an AA Degree in Business. He served in the Army National Guard. In 1961, he married Lee Boyce who passed away on April 15, 2024. Mr. Boyce worked for the Mushroom Canning Company in Cambridge. After retirement, Dick began working at Thomas Funeral Home until his health started to fail. He loved woodworking, restoring antique toys, playing poker and going to yard sales. Mr. Boyce was a member of Friendship Church where he served in many capacities, Masonic Lodge #7 in Dover, Masonic Lodge #66 AF & AM in Cambridge, and the Eastern Shore Shrine Club Boumi Temple where he was a past president. 

He is survived by two sons William Ronald Boyce and wife Wendie whom he thought of as a daughter of Bridgeville, DE, and David Boyce and wife Birget of Annapolis, MD, seven grandchildren William Kyle Boyce, Robert Raymond Riggleman, Randi Kristen Maxfield and Taylor Nicole Maxfield, Karly, Donovan and Lane Boyce, five great grandchildren Jonah, Hannah, Robby, Lily and Phoenix, a brother Roger Boyce of Delaware, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Boyce is preceded in death by two brothers Richard Boyce, and Ronnie Boyce, and a sister Nancy Doughter. 

Pallbearers will be William Boyce, David Boyce, Kyle Boyce, Robby Riggleman, Scott Rench, Randi Maxfield and Taylor Maxfield.

Masonic and funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 12pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Friendship Methodist Church, c/o Karol Redline, 7 Shady Drive, Cambridge, MD 21613.
